I think this word is very fitting for this week. With starting a new job, the kids at school and still tons of housework to get done, we definitely need a routine.
I'm at my wits end with rushing around in the morning getting everything ready, only to get to the time we should be leaving for school and Erin can't find her school bag, or her hair isn't brushed, or she hasn't brushed her teeth!!
Yes, we definitely need a routine.
My kids do very well with visual reminders, so in preparation I have purchased some clipboards with the idea of printing off a list of things each child should do as soon as they are out of bed in the morning.
- Wash face and hands
- Brush teeth
- Get dressed
- Brush hair
- Eat breakfast
I'll have a separate routine list for myself with things to do in the evening, which would free up time in the morning.
- Make pack lunches
- Put out uniforms
- Leave school bags by the door
It's all in aid of making the mornings a lot smoother for us, with less rushing around.
I fully intend to dedicate a whole post to this new routine once we have it up and running, but for now it's Friday and we can be a little lax over the weekend at least.

Oh yes, we need some routine! We only have to get out to preschool twice a week, and it's normally smooth, but if my daughter doesn't fancy getting dressed that morning, it can throw us off a bit! Hoping yours works well for you. Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
ReplyDeleteI love a good routine. It is very important for us on school days and it is very similar to yours, except the preparation the night before is the part that often gets missed. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI do love routine! It seems to have taken me the whole of January to get back into one though :) #WotW
ReplyDeletewe thrive off our routine, but we have to, routine is key to our daily life :) #WotW
